The Light Reveals Hunger (Northport Elementary)

Staff from Northport Elementary School in Brooklyn Center join us for worship on Sunday and Wednesday - and MoTalk on Sunday.

Principal Frederico Rowe and Pam Hancy, Community Engagement and Academic Volunteer Coordinator will be talking about our partnership, hunger in the suburbs, especially as it impacts students and families at their school. Mount Olivet partners with Northport through our KidPack program which provides take-home meals for students from low-income families every Friday.

Other ways Mount Olivet members have lived into our partnership have been by volunteering as reading and math tutors, and making costumes for their annual Spring musical.

Other ways Mount Olivet is helping with hunger issues:

Dinner at Your Door
7 drivers every month help deliver close to 500 meals to homebound people in Crytsal, Golden Valley, New Hope, Plymouth, and Robbinsdale. Group Contact: Bob Carlson

Loaves and Fishes
Since 1988 the Mount Olivet group has served more than 10,000 meals in South MInneapolis from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church site.  Group Contact: Bob Carlson

Second Harvest
Since 2013, 21 volunteers every month have donated 1520 hours and packed close to 7000 pounds of food each night.  Volunteer Here
