MOtalk: Conversations that Build Bridges of Understanding

CONVERSATIONS THAT BUILD BRIDGES OF UNDERSTANDING

"Help! I don’t know how to talk to my _____ (family, friends, co-workers) about all that is happening in our world.”

An important part of our identity is to continue being church “by listening to God and to each other.”  Often, when we try to have conversations with each about relevant topics, we end up leaving in silence or argument.

How do we thoughtfully listen and engage with each other in today’s fast moving, complicated world?  What happens when we encounter those moments of discord and disconnect here at Mount Olivet and in our lives?
We begin by hosting two sessions to learn how to have conversations that can bridge those things that divide us.

Kim Olstad, who is a facilitator from the Minnesota Council of Churches “Respectful Conversations Project” and a Convenor of conversations with St. Paul Interfaith Network, will lead us in learning to listen with empathy and curiosity.

Kim says, of this time, “you will be surprised how eager you are as you leave the room, to engage in a conversation with someone who thinks differently from yourself!”

Please join us for this important time of experiential learning!
